A far too short week at RTSS in Vancouver. Beautiful but freezing cold --- according to locals even exceptionally cold --- weather during all the week. And a far too short weekend for exploring a small part of the city:
Saturday, with the bus to the foot of the Grouse Mountain north of Vancouver; the idea was walking up the famous grind path. It was closed due to winter conditions, but there are many other paths up, almost crowded with locals doing their weekly workout here. Then, down to the beach on the Capilano road, and walking over the extremely busy Lions Gate Bridge --- with nice views on the city --- to the Stanley Park where the day comes almost to its end. Sunday, back to the Grouse Mountain, I offer to be the guide and get lost, but finally the path of the day is much nicer, sunnier, more adventurous, quite steep, and much less crowded before arriving at the bustling ski ressort. As the previous day, we go down the fast way with the gondola. And as the previous day, it’s too late for the famous Capilano suspension bridge, just enough time for a little tour through the busy Granville Island Market. |
